Industry Weighs in With 2025 Forecasts Company Predictions

www.allaboutcircuits.com, Jan. 02, 2025 –

We're back with the second part of our 2025 predictions article. We hope you've had a great News Year's Day so far.

As I explained in Part 1, I reached out to several key companies in our semiconductor / electronics industry for predictions. We received such detailed responses that we decided to split things up into two parts. In Part 1 of this article, we focused on insights and quotes about general predictions.

A Look at Where Companies See Themselves in 2025

Here, in Part 2, I'll share 2025 predictions companies in our industry have about themselves.

With that in mind, we ask companies to answer the question:

What are your predictions for your company in 2025 in terms of direction, market, and focus?

Fewer companies replied to this question compared to the Part 1 article questions. But there's plenty of interesting perspectives here. These (in random order) are the responses:

Infineon Technologies

"In 2024, Infineon Technologies made significant strides in the development of its 300 mm power gallium nitride (GaN) technology, solidifying its position as a leader in the growing GaN market," says an Infineon spokesperson. "Going forward, the 300 mm GaN will further strengthen the company's leadership in power systems by mastering all relevant power technologies, be it silicon, silicon carbide or gallium nitride."

"State of the art GaN manufacturing processes will further lead to improved device performance resulting in benefits in end customers' applications as it enables efficiency performance, smaller size, lighter weight, and lower overall cost."

"A fully scaled 300 mm GaN production will also contribute to GaN cost parity with silicon on RDS(on) level, which means cost parity for comparable Si and GaN products. Infineon will continue to drive innovation and growth in the GaN market, with a focus on expanding customer base and increasing market share. With a strong performance in 2024 and a solid foundation for growth, Infineon is well-positioned to capitalize on the opportunities in the GaN market in 2025 and beyond."

Synaptics

"A key focus of Synaptics continues to be the democratization of AI at the Edge based Synaptics Astra AI-Native platform and the infusion of AI across all our solutions," says a Synaptics spokesman. "This represents a focused strategy to provide product developers with purpose-built solutions and an open ecosystem designed to remove barriers in a fragmented landscape and allow them to implement AI for a more diverse range of context-aware applications."

"This includes our expanded portfolio of optimized hardware (processor) and software solutions that meet the power, performance, cost, and space requirements to support multimodal Edge AI workloads. We see particularly strong growth in vision and audio processing features to support AI-enriched experiences."

"In addition to our move into optimized NPU-enabled embedded compute for Edge applications, our strength in intelligent wireless connectivity continues to expand and complements our overall IoT growth strategy by enabling robust and secure connected IoT devices. Around PCs, we continue to couple AI with our sensing capabilities to enhance the user experience."
