France's position in the global quantum race is getting stronger as the government and venture capitalists are willing to support research and startups. Quantum computing startups Pasqal and C12 Quantum Electronics announced they have raised €25 million and €8.2 million, respectively.

Market dynamics

Quantum technologies could change everything. They could solve problems we are not even aware of and open new avenues by addressing key industrial simulation and optimization challenges in chemical research, financial services, health care, life science, manufacturing, and defense.

The total value for quantum technologies, including computing, cryptography, and sensing, will increase from about $340 million in 2020 to $2.9 billion in 2030, according to a recent report by Yole Développement. The three main market segments – quantum computing, quantum sensing/timing, and cryptography – are expected to reach $1,147 million, $598 million, and $1,163 million in 2030, respectively.
